Indigo Chapters “Adopt a School” Update:

As you may remember from last year, Indigo Chapters Victoria (formerly located on Douglas St., soon to be opening at Mayfair Shopping Centre) has “adopted” our school for their annual fundraiser. For us the campaign will take place in two parts:

Online Campaign, ongoing till October 7:

We are part of the national online campaign which can be found at adoptaschool.indigo.ca. There are three ways to participate online:

  1. Book Bonus: For every two books donated to our school online, the Love of Reading Foundation will donate a bonus book, up to 100 books.
  2. Tell a Story, Give a Story. For every “story” posted to our Adopt a School profile, the Love of Reading Foundation will donate one book in support of our school library, up to 20 books. Story topics include options such as why you are supporting this school, what book has had the biggest impact on your life, what three books should every library own, and more.
  3. Vote in the Adopt a School Story Contest:  “Heart” your favourite story to help a school for a chance to win up to $2,500 credit at Indigo stores.

In-Store Campaign, November 11 to 30th:

Because the Victoria store is currently in process of moving to Mayfair mall, Cloverdale will have an in-store campaign just for us. During these 10 days customers shopping at Chapters Indigo Victoria will be asked if they would like to donate to Cloverdale Traditional School. Our school receives 100% of every dollar raised to support our library and a 30% discount off books when we shop at Indigo, Chapters and Coles using program donations. We will remind you about this part of the campaign again when we are a little closer to the date.

Parent Volunteers Needed

Our library is in need of parent helpers, mainly for shelving returned books but also occasionally for other projects. No experience is necessary (we will give you a short training session) and there is no minimum time commitment or firm schedule; volunteers drop as their time permits. Please contact our Teacher Librarian, Nicole Aerts, if you are interested – naerts@sd61.bc.ca.
