SCHOOL UPDATES:
Principal’s Message
Welcome fall! We are still enjoying the wonderful weather, by heading outside every day. Children require appropriate dress for the weather, that is beginning to be a little cooler and more wet.
Students are progressing rapidly with all the learning this term. We hosted another successful round of parent/teacher conferences, which gave us an opportunity to share how children are settling and learn a little about your children from you. Thank you for taking the time to support your student.
Student safety is very important to us at Cloverdale and is a focus in all of our classrooms. Safe behaviors are being reviewed and students are involved in discussions about what safety looks like, sounds like and feels like here at Cloverdale School. Please take a moment to talk about safe behaviors with your child.
Friday, October 23, will be a teacher professional development day, with no students in session. Our teachers have wide ranging passions and are working on interesting new learning for themselves: outdoor education, math workshops, technology initiatives, science planning, assessment and reporting, and much more.
Thank you to everyone for calling or emailing the school if your child is going to be absent, and for getting your child to school on time in the morning.
PAC thanks everyone who returned the bottom portion of their handout – they truly appreciate your engagement! If you missed it but want to get involved, send an e-mail to cts.parents@gmail.com. There is still time to buy tickets to the Pacific FC game coming up on Sunday, October 11th at 4PM. Tickets are discounted, and $5 of each ticket goes to the PAC. The Halloween Dance is coming up on Friday, October 30th from 5:30-7:30PM in the gym. Keep your eye out on the PAC website or Facebook page for more info and to volunteer!
Upcoming Elections
Cloverdale School has been chosen as a polling station for both the municipal and provincial elections this month. In addition, our school will also be a pre-polling station for the provincial election. While both election days fall on a Saturday, the pre-polling is Monday, October 19. Our school will be extra busy these days, and our parking lot will be extra full. Please be mindful of the busy traffic, and leave extra time getting to and from school. on October 19.
Student Photo Retakes
Was your student away from school on photo day? Were you unhappy with your child’s photo from photo day? Photo retake day is Tuesday, October 20. Sign up for photo retakes using the link here. If you wish for your student to have a photo retake (whether they had a photo taken on photo day or were away and this will be their first photo) you MUST sign up for a photo retake. If you have not signed up, no photo will be taken. The deadline to sign up is Sunday, October 18.
Family Photo Night Fundraiser
Due to the upcoming election, we have had to change the date of our Fall Family Photo Night Fundraiser to an evening that the gym is available for our use. If you had already booked your family photo timeslot, you should have been contacted by Mountain West directly. If you have not been contacted, please let the school office know so that we can check into this.
Our new date will be Tuesday, November 10. There are still time slots available, though they do book up fast. Act now to avoid missing out. Family photos are a great gift idea, thinking ahead to the upcoming holiday season. An email was sent this week to notify families of the change and allow families that have not yet signed up to book a space. Here is the info from Mountain West:
Mountain West Studios is excited to be providing family photo sessions as a fundraiser! The date has moved to November 10th 2026, in the school gym. This environment allows us to provide quality portrait sessions within a comfortable location. Our goal is to provide portraits that CELEBRATE YOU and your Family.
This is a fundraiser! 100% of the sitting fee goes directly back to the school, and each family will receive a complimentary 8×10 print.
