SCHOOL UPDATES:
Principal’s Message
Have you seen our new sign? Check out the Cheetah logo on the front of the school. Thanks to the grade 5 students of 2024/2025 for this legacy gift!
Such a busy time! We are preparing for our Winter Concert (Dec. 17th and 18th) and, at the same time, completing projects and assessments to inform the Learning Updates that you will be able to access on Parent Connect, December 12 at 3:30 p.m. Please remember these are a snapshot of your child’s progress at a very specific point in time, and please use the report to have a conversation with your child about their progress thus far and the goals they can set for next term.
During this busy time, it is more important than ever that our children are staying hydrated, eating healthfully and getting lots of both quiet down time and sleep. We also need to make sure they can stay warm and dry as the weather is growing colder and wetter. Time to get out thicker and more rain resistant coats along with gloves, hats and boots.
You are invited to join us in the gym on Friday, December 5th from 6-7:30PM for the PAC Board Game Night! Board games will be provided by the Board Game Cafe, and small snacks will be available for purchase by cash or card. Parent/guardian supervision is required – and please wear clean, non-marking footwear. We hope to see you there!
Thank you to everyone who attended the Open Gym Night – if you have any suggestions about these or other events please consider joining us at a PAC meeting to share your input!
Winter Concert
Winter concert tickets requests for the first round of ticketing (up to 2 per family) will come home on Monday. If you requested additional tickets, and we were able to accommodate your request, they will be sent home on Thursday, No additional tickets were issued for Thursday as there were not any left after issuing everyone’s first 2 tickets. Please ensure that you have made arrangements for childcare offsite if you were requesting extra Thursday evening tickets for siblings and/or infants. They cannot attend without a ticket. Everyone attending the concert MUST have a ticket to be granted entry. This includes small children that will sit on a parent’s lap, infants, alumni, siblings, and anyone else attending. Our gym capacity is for bodies, not for chairs. If you arrive without a ticket for everyone in your group, you will be turned away at the door.
Learning Updates & Parent Connect
On Friday, December 12 at 3:00 p.m., our Term 1 Learning Updates (formerly referred to as Report Cards) will be released on Parent Connect. Paper copies of learning updates are not sent home with each student. To access your student’s learning update, please make sure you can access your Parent Connect account. Information on how to sign up for Parent Connect, and the link to access the system, can be found on the school district website here.
Coat Swap
We continue to accept donations of clean coats and jackets. Please bring them to the office or hang them directly on the clothing rack. If you need a coat or jacket, please help yourself from the rack. We all know how quickly children grow and this allows us to swap and exchange in the spirit of supporting one another during this time of growing inflation. The rack is set up outside the main gym doors.
Staying Healthy!
We are reaching out to share some information about what we can do together to stay healthy and well during these fall months. As a community, we can take measures to limit the spread of germs:
- Wash hands frequently
- Cover coughs and sneezes with elbows
- Monitor and keep children home from school if they are experiencing symptoms of illness until they are well enough to participate in regular activities
- If you are unsure or concerned about any symptoms, connect with your health care provider or call 8-1-1
Please reach out if you have questions and communicate any student absences with our main office making sure to also inform your daycare or before/after school programs. Thank you for your continued support to ensure the health and well-being of our school.
