SCHOOL UPDATES:
Principal’s Message
It’s that time of year, when we are all excited to be spending more time outdoors. Our weather has been changeable, but we are making good use of all our outdoor play spaces, as we spend time outside daily.
As we move into May and all the things that the approach of school year-end brings, it is more important than ever to maintain healthy schedules. With the lengthening of days and the excitement created by the beautiful weather and being outdoors, it can be difficult to stay on routine. We know how much this routine can impact the daily learning ability of young students.
We had very successful and well attended student-led conferences. We hope that you we able to engage with your student about what is happening in their classroom. The children were very excited to share with families the growth they are making.
Code of Conduct Review – Each year the school district asks us to invite our parents to review the current draft code of conduct and offer any feedback you may have. The district has moved toward formulating a common code of conduct for all schools at each level, to have consistency across our district and schools, so students receive the same message around expectations regardless of what school they attend. If students change schools, the code of conduct is the same. Please review the draft code of conduct for elementary schools using the link here. If you have thoughts, concerns, or comments to share please do so via email to cloverdale@sd61.bc.ca by Friday, May 23. If you would like to view our current code of conduct, you can do so in the pages of your child’s agenda planner, or on our website here. Thank you in advance.
We are very excited to announce that we will be having a new Vice Principal in the fall. Mary McLean will be joining our team. We are looking forward to getting to know her!
Class Photo Day
Tuesday, May 6 is our class photo day. Come dressed in your best! Photos will be sent to the school in the following weeks for distribution to classes. Every student will receive 1 class photo. There is no ordering or cost associate with this.
Grade 5 Popcorn Fundraiser
Thank you to those who supported our grade 5 students fundraising efforts with 4 weeks of popcorn sales. We do have some popcorn still left. We are going to add a selling day next Thursday, May 8. We have limited flavours still available and we will sell them first come first serve. If you have children that would still like to purchase popcorn, please send them with their $3 next Thursday.
Yearbook Reminder
Yearbook orders are due Monday, May 5. No late orders will be accepted. We only order the exact amount pre-paid for. If you would like to order a yearbook this is the last chance to do so.
School Chosen Non-Instructional Day for 2025-2026 School Year
Each year schools choose one non-instructional day that is specific to their school. For the 2025-2026 school year, Cloverdale Elementary School has chosen Monday, January 26, 2026.
