SCHOOL UPDATES:
Principal’s Message
We are well on our way in this third and final term of school, and as usual, we are very busy Clovedale. Students have been diligent with classroom learning and projects.
We have experienced another successful Rainbow week, which is intended to spread the message that Everyone is Welcome Here at Cloverdale.
A special thank you to Luke and Jayden (Spectrum students), with the support of Mrs. Black and Mr. Gartly, for coaching and supporting our Rugby team. The children experienced a very successful jamboree last week. Mr. And Mrs. Marta have held the last chess club meeting of this year. There was always a large crowd of students wanting to learn the intricacies of the game!
Track practices have been happening daily for the 100 metre, 800 metre and relay races. If your child is participating in track please ensure that they come with appropriate footwear for running. Look for permission forms to come home shortly. The Zone meet will be held on May 27, at the UVic track and City Finals will happen on May 29th from 6-8pm, also at UVic. Families of athletes who qualify for City Finals will be notified.
Students continue to be very active on the playground. Skipping, hula hoops, four square and soccer are favorite recess and lunch activities when students are not participating in gym games or arts and crafts. The skill and fun our students are demonstrating is indeed contributing to healthy living at Cloverdale School. Please ensure that your child has the appropriate footwear to play safely on our playground, fields and courts during these times. ‘Flip flops’ and/or bare feet are very hazardous on the school fields and blacktop. Remember that our after school supervision ends at 3:50pm daily. Parent support and cooperation with prompt pick up at the end of the day is necessary to accommodate staff attendance at off-site meetings and other obligations. Your child’s safety and well-being continue to be our priority.
Have a super long weekend.
Skipathon
We will be having our annual Skipathon on Friday, May 30 at 1:30 p.m. Pledge sheets went home earlier this week. All students will participate in the Skipathon regardless of whether they fundraise or not. Parents are welcome to come and watch and cheer us on for the day of the event.
Welcome to Kindergarten
On Thursday, May 29 from 9:30 – 11:30 we will be hosting our annual Welcome to Kindergarten event. This is a time for students who will begin Kindergarten at Cloverdale in September 2025 to come and visit school. If you have a student starting Kindergarten here in September or know of someone attending Kindergarten here in September, we look forward to meeting them on May 29.
