SCHOOL UPDATES:
Principal’s Message
It’s hard to believe Spring Break is almost upon us. Everyone has been working hard, and doing their best. The Cheetah Chase is moving across Canada, accomplished by daily laps, with all classes participating. Cloverdale is currently running through Ontario. The final push to see how far we can get will be on Friday, March 13.
I know everyone is excited to have two weeks of rest, relaxation and some time with family.
Report cards will be available on Parent Connect, March 13 at 3:30pm. Please remember, these are a snapshot of your child’s progress at a very specific point in time. The growth we see in students happens at varying times, in varying rates, and in different ways.
We are excited to announce we will begin hosting a therapy dog in our school. Teddy is a highly trained, hypoallergenic and fully certified therapy dog who will spend time in various classes, helping us all learn about therapy dogs and their roles. We are excited to have her as a member of our Cloverdale community.
Have a wonderful break, everyone!
Cheetah Chase Update
The finale for the Great Cheetah Chase is only 1 week away! We are currently running through Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, and hope to reach the east coast of Canada by the end of next week! As a wind-up event, on the afternoon of Friday, March 13th, the whole school will be out running as we make one final push to the finish line! To show our school spirit, we are asking students to wear any school Cheetah-wear that they have. If your child does not have Cheetah-wear, we are asking them to wear green and navy (our school colours) to celebrate the event. Grade 5 and Kindergarten students will be wearing the school sports jerseys to show their school spirit! We will be collecting donations up until the end of next week, so please send your donations in as soon as possible. Thank you in advance for your support of this great school event. Thanks to the PAC for donating freezies for the runners at the end of the run!
Learning Updates
On Friday March 13th at 3:30 p.m., our Term 2 Learning Updates (formerly referred to as Report Cards) will be released on Parent Connect. Paper copies of learning updates are not sent home with each student. To access your student’s learning update, please make sure you can access your Parent Connect account. Information on how to sign up for Parent Connect, and the link to access the system, can be found on the school district website here.
DISTRICT AND COMMUNITY UPDATES:
5×1000 would love books from your Spring Cleaning!
In the past 5 years, “5×1000” has donated 380,000 gently used books to babies and preschools across Greater Victoria. The goal is to gift 3 books to 1000 babies every month, but they are running short. If you have books for babies at home that you’re looking to donate, please bring them to the pink bin in the office.
