SCHOOL UPDATES:

Principal’s Message

Welcome back everyone. I hope that you were all able to enjoy some down time! We are off to a great start in our final learning term here at Cloverdale. Staff and students hit the ground running this week with activities, classroom situations and outdoor experiences that enhance learning and engage everyone. Over the next couple of weeks, you should be hearing from your classroom teacher about this term’s informal student reporting. This student-led conference situation will allow your child to ‘show what they know’. Teachers are always creative, and are hopeful that what they have planned for you and your student will be informative. Thank you for your continued support of your child at school. These will be hosted on April 22nd, with an early dismissal day (students will be dismissed at 11:50 a.m. on this day).

Mini rugby has begun for students in grades 4 and 5 and we will be starting track in the coming weeks. We have many clubs run by various adults on our wonderful staff.

Please be reminded that our after school supervision ends at 2:52 pm daily. Parent support and cooperation with prompt pick up at the end of the day is necessary to accommodate staff attendance at off-site meetings and other obligations. Your child’s safety and well-being continue to be our priority.

A reminder that if you have not yet done so, please access your child’s term 2 report card via the Parent Connect system (https://www.sd61.bc.ca/parent-student-resources/parent-connect/).

The Great Cheetah Chase was a huge success! Our school ran a total of 6,262 km. Additionally, we managed to raise $2,039.94 to support our classrooms. A big shoutout to Panago Pizza who supplied several individual pizza certificates. There was a draw for these prizes at our final run. Thank you to everyone for your support with this school fundraiser!

Grade 5 Popcorn Fundraiser

It’s back!  Our annual grade 5 popcorn fundraiser in support of the grade 5 legacy gift will kick off next Thursday, April 9.  Kernels popcorn will be for sale before recess break on April 9, April 16, April 23, and April 30.  The cost is $3.00 per bag and we will offer butter/salt flavor, white cheddar flavor, and creamy caramel flavor.  Students wishing to purchase a bag of popcorn should bring their $3.00 and give it to their teacher on Thursday mornings.  No pre-ordering is required.  Thank you for supporting our grade 5 students fundraising efforts.

DISTRICT AND COMMUNITY UPDATES:
