Remembrance Day Assembly

At our Remembrance Day assembly we will be honouring loved ones who have been impacted by war in some way, such as those who served, are serving, or are involved with Canada’s military or peacekeeping.

If you have a connection to someone who is or has been in the Canadian military we are asking if you could please share a picture of this person with us so we could include the photo in our photo display. In addition to the photo(s) it would be helpful if you could identify the person or people in the photograph, and let us know the context and connection to Cloverdale. For this, could you please include:

1. Your child’s first and last name,
2. The first and last names of the person/people in the photo
3. The relationship of person in photo to student at Cloverdale
4. Rank and/or titles of the person/people in the photograph
5. Which part of the Armed Forces they served in
6. The wars or conflicts the person/people has/have served in.

If you have digital photos available, please email the .jpeg (or similar file format) to Mary McLean at mmclean@sd61.bc.ca and include the info listed above. If you would like us to scan hard copy printed photos, please bring them to the office in an envelope with the information included, along with the name of the Cloverdale Student and division clearly marked on the envelope so that it can be returned. In order to give us time to create the display we would ask that these photos are provided by Tuesday, November 3, 2025.

In addition, we invite our students who are interested in participating in the colour guard (Indigenous students, scouts, brownies, cubs, girl guides, cadets, etc) to do so by wearing their uniform/regalia and taking part in the start of the assembly.  If your child would like to participate, please reach out to Mrs. McLean (mmclean@sd61.bc.ca) to let her know.  A practice will be organized in the days leading up to the assembly so the students know what is required of them.

Thank you for your consideration and contribution.
