SCHOOL UPDATES:
Principal’s Message
Happy Friday everyone. February is shaping up to be another busy and productive time at Cloverdale, with much still to come. We recognize Lunar New Year, Ramadan, Eid al-Fitr, Black History Month and we will be celebrating Pink Shirt Day later in the month. The ‘feel’ in the building is certainly one of compassion, kindness and empathy. Classrooms have been having important conversations about how we behave with one another, treat each other with respect, and sharing thoughts and ideas about how we include everyone. We are an inclusive school, and I am proud to hear these conversations at Cloverdale, as well as the way students are taking responsibility for making sure all feel safe and supported.
Pink Shirt Day this year will be February 28, we are looking forward to seeing all variety of pink shirts. This day is a celebration of diversity, anti-bullying, kindness and inclusion.
We currently host after school floor hockey, B You, Learn to Swim and lunch time chess club, basketball, pickleball and badminton. We have had some wonderful sunny (although cool) days to explore, extend learning, and play outside. Thank you to staff, families and students for all of your efforts in this New Year.
Have a very restful weekend.
PAC is hosting Open Gym Night tonight, Friday, February 20th from 6:30-8PM. All Cloverdale families are welcome to this free event! Please be sure to wear non-marking footwear, and ensure your children stay in the designated (gym) area. Students must attend with an adult.
Safe Drop-off & Pick-up Reminders – There have been growing concerns about the safe flow of parent vehicle traffic in the mornings and after school. For the safety of students and staff, parents are reminded to use the appropriate lane next to the curb. Cars should not be unattended in the drop off lane. Please do NOT drive into the staff parking lot. Please do not park in the Thrifty Foods lot. Parking off site is always a great idea. A short fresh air walk is a wonderful way for students to start and end their school day.
Cheetah Chase
Our classes have been running hard and building up their laps! We have our final few weeks to hopefully reach our goal of running across Canada, across the Confederate Bridge, and into PEI. That’s 5,914 KM’s! Forms will be coming home on Friday, February 27 for children to collect pledges if they wish.
