SCHOOL UPDATES:
Principal’s Message
October has been a very busy month at Cloverdale School. Classrooms continue to be active, meaningful learning environments, participation in nightly home reading is imperative in supporting growth in this area. We have many activities and events taking place currently that include, cross country for grades 3, 4 and 5, grade 5 soccer, and B You. After school floor hockey, will begin soon.
We have a lockdown drill planned for November 6 with Saanich Police in attendance. Teachers spend time discussing and preparing students for this in an age appropriate manner. Our earthquake drill was very successful, as students discussed ways to keep themselves safe.
$3287.85 has been raised through coupon books this year to support sports bussing. Special thank you to Mr. Marta, Mrs. Marta, and Ms. Mattu for running such a successful fundraiser. The Pumpkinfest was very successful in raising funds for classroom literacy. Thank you to the teaching staff for organizing, families who came had a lot of fun.
Thank you to everyone for what is turning out to be a very productive year!
Coat Swap
As the weather gets colder we are accepting donations of clean coats and jackets. Please bring them to the office or hang them directly on the clothing rack. If you need a coat or jacket, please help yourself from the rack. We all know how quickly children grow and this allows us to swap and exchange in the spirit of supporting one another during this time of growing inflation. We will be setting the rack up outside the main gym doors, and will have access for parents immediately before school in the morning.
Remembrance Day Reminder
On Monday, November 10 we will recognize Remembrance Day with an assembly at 11:00 a.m. in our gym. Everyone is welcome to attend. School will be closed on Tuesday, November 11 in recognition of Remembrance Day.

1000 x 5
November is the beginning month of the three book challenge. As we head into the holiday season, many families appreciate a bit of help with gifts. Every month 1000 x 5 pops 3000 books into 1000 gift bags, 3 books for each receiving child. If each child in Cloverdale Elementary School brought in 3 gently used books for babies and preschoolers, we would collect 1020 books, enough for gift bags of books for 340 children. Let’s make it happen! Drop books for babies and preschoolers in the pink bin in the school office.
